A number of awards are given to assist women to complete their final year of a Bachelor with Honours Degree at an approved Institute in the Auckland Area.

Midwifery-Nursing Clinical Placement Award in Memory of Ngaire Miller

Up to two awards of $2000 are offered annually to assist students to carry out a placement of approximately 3 – 5 weeks in a rural/provincial location, as part of study for an undergraduate or postgraduate preregistration degree in Nursing or Midwifery. Applicants must be in their second year or above in 2025 and studying at an institute in Auckland or Wellington. The award is intended to encourage students currently based in Auckland and Wellington to take up rural/provincial placements by contributing towards accommodation and transport costs.

Watercare – Ghella Abergeldie Engineering Award

An Award of $5000, sponsored by Watercare & Ghella Abergeldie, to support a female student enrolled in Part II/Year 2 of a Bachelor of Engineering degree at the University of Auckland or AUT.

Women in Engineering Award, in memory of Peter Marinovich

Up to two awards of $2,000 will be available for offer annually to assist women enrolled in the School of Engineering at the University of Auckland at Stage 3 of a Bachelor of Engineering, a Bachelor of Engineering (Honours), Master of Engineering, Master of Operations Research or PhD in Engineering.

This award arises from the combination of generous sponsorships from Forsyth Barr and Kate Edger Foundation Trustee Hilary Lewis. The Award is to support a woman enrolled in the third year or above of an undergraduate or postgraduate degree in Commerce/Business, majoring in Finance, at the University of Auckland or AUT and is intended to help encourage women to pursue careers in the finance and investment industry.

An Award of $2,500 in memory of Carol Schofield, sponsored by her family and friends, to support a woman enrolled full-time in the third year or above of a Bachelor’s or postgraduate degree in Fine Arts, Visual Arts, or Design and Contemporary Art at the University of Auckland, Whitecliffe College of Arts and Design, AUT or Unitec.

New Zealand Contemporary Art Award, sponsored by NZ Contemporary Arts Trust

One award of $5000 will be offered annually to a female or male enrolled in the third year or above of a degree or post-graduate degree in a Visual Arts-related area. Thanks to the generosity of Toi o Tāmaki Auckland Art Gallery, the Award also includes a 12-month membership to the Gallery.

Te Whare Whakapiki Wairua Mana Wahine Alcohol and Other Drugs Court Judges’ Award, sponsored by Gattung Foundation

Thanks to the generous support of the Gattung Foundation, this award is intended to support wāhine and help them forge their futures using their lived recovery experience to assist those who come after them. The funding will recognise the hard work, outstanding contribution and change-making potential demonstrated by a graduate of the AODTC.

Nominees for the Award will be put forward for consideration by the lead Judge with oversight of the AODTC, in consultation with the other AODTC Judges.
