Practicum Awards

To assist a woman to carry out study for a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree with a required practicum component. Three awards will be made for a year of study that requires a student to undertake a practicum which is usually unpaid and involves travel or residence away from home.

Women in Law Award

An Award of $7500, to assist a woman enrolled full-time in the third year or above of a law degree at the University of Auckland or AUT. The award is intended to encourage equity within the Law profession by encouraging women from diverse backgrounds and communities to study Law.

Practicum Awards

Foundation Awards

A number of awards to assist women who have completed a full time Foundation Course at an approved Tertiary Institute, totaling 120 points at NCEA Level 3 or above, and have enrolled in full time study for their first degree or diploma, to meet course expenses. In addition, up to two named Awards are available to students who have completed the Foundation Course at the University of Auckland, who are enrolled in full-time study for their first degree or diploma.

Value: $2,000 each

New Start Awards

Two New Start Awards to assist up to two women students from the University of Auckland’s New Start programme to study towards a degree at the University of Auckland.  Only applicants who have completed this Programme will be considered.

Value: $18,000 over three years
Closing Date: 18 November 2025

RETRAINING AWARDS

A number of awards to assist mature women, aged 25 years and above, to undertake study in order to return to a profession or take up work (paid or unpaid) in the community.

In addition, a number of special retraining awards may be offered per annum that have been funded by private donors for specific purposes. The recipients of these awards will be selected from the applicants for the Retraining Awards at the discretion of the Selection Panel.
